The Nature Enthusiast waits in the bird hide. For hours patiently logging the sightings; longing for the sight of the most elusive and rare. The Nature Enthusiast will wander through town and country, in tune with beasts of land, sea and air, noting it all down in the precious book of Nature Notes, logging the times, dates, features. Small sketches of markings, colour and variations will be noted and compared. The Artist waits in the studio. For hours patiently logging sightings, thoughts, memories, imaginings and reverie; longing for the images to make themselves apparent. The Artist wanders through town and country, in tune with beasts of land sea and air, noting it all down in the precious book of Nature Notes, logging reverie and imagined scenarios. Small sketches combining the experienced and imagined will be noted and compared. Nature Notes begin their life in the artist's reverie. Small sketches created in her favourite note-books begin life as a wander in the mind to encourage images to flow. Sometimes these drawings will begin to take on a life just beyond an informative sketch. With a quiet franticness they sit just on the edge of the world on which their sister drawings, upon white paper, reside. They often sit in groups, creating quietly anxious worlds, the paper buckling around them. Slipping quietly out of the very private realm of the artists studio and sneaking up onto the walls of the public gallery space, these drawings make themselves known. |
